Week 76 - Retiro

This week was pretty crazy.  On Tuesday we had transfers and I got a new companion Elder Wallace from Gilbert Arizona.  But the thing is on Sunday night of last week I ate some milk with rice that made me super sick and I was throwing up in the beginning  of the week so that was fun.  But yeah on Thursday I got to do divisions with Elder Haycock who was my companion about a year ago so that was fun.  They on Friday we had the zone conference for Christmas.  Elder Wallace and I gave a presentation about teaching with the object that they understand and then everyone got to go to the restaurant Kansas for lunch.  It was awesome.  We found a family the other week who has a ton of other family members who are members in Peru and they came to church yesterday and really liked it.  This week we have been finding a bunch of new people to teach and also letting go a bunch of old people that aren't really progressing that much.  Oh by the way I got the package and I'm waiting to open it until Christmas morning.

Week 75 - Retiro

This week we have been teaching a lot of lessons and a lot of people.  On Saturday also we had the branch Christmas dinner and it only started 2 1/2 hours late but it was really good.  And we had a lot of investigators there.  On Wednesday we did divisions and I went with Elder Montilla to his area and that was really interesting as two elder almost got in a fist fight so we had to get that problem resolved.  On Sunday afternoon we got a call from President Zuniga to inform Elder Armstrong that he will be training and opening a new area next transfer.  So I have to wait until Monday night to find out if I get transferred or not.  On Sunday morning of course it rained a ton and so a bunch of investigators cancelled on us when we went to pick them up.  We aren't doing so hot right now in our area or in the zone so in this upcoming transfer we are going to improve things.  But today for P-day we are in a trio because the other elders companion went home.  We are gonna go to the tourist spot because Elder Armstrong wants to buy souvenirs.

Week 74 - Retiro

This week on Tuesday we had our interviews with President Zuniga and also our district meeting.  President was basically roasting everyone in their interviews and really trying to get a better level of obedience in the mission.  On Friday I went with Elder Jones who is a very new missionary and we had a very good day.  We have been finding a ton of new people to teach because all of the ones that we were teaching weren't progressing at all.  It has kind of been the same process here in this area.  We find a bunch of new people but very few progress or go to church.  On Sunday it kind of stunk because we had a ton of investigators that failed us when we went to pick them up early Sunday morning for church.  This coming Saturday there will be a huge end of the year Christmas dinner for the branch and we are gonna try and get a bunch of people to come to that.  But it was a good week with a couple little setbacks.

Week 73 - Retiro

This week was very good.  On Thanksgiving the senior couple in our ward (Elder and Sister Jones) took us to a restaurant called Kansas which is a super American restaurant and we had turkey and potatoes and pie and all that. It was awesome.  We are teaching a man named Javier right now who went to church with us yesterday.  He is really smart.  Javier is blind but still really independent.  They funny thing is that during the second hour which was sunday school class, there were almost more investigators than members and the investigators were participating a lot more than the members.  On Saturday we did a crazy move were we had to lift up a huge fridge on like a pully system to the 4th floor.  Also on Saturday we went out with a bunch of people from the Elders Quorum to visit people who aren't active.  We went with our crazy Elders Quorum president, brother Jimenez and this guy literally knows everyone in the villa.  Every 2 seconds he was introducing us to a friend.  It was awesome.  On Friday we had a leadership council in the mission home.  It was good.  The thing is that it gets super hot and no one wants to turn on the AC because who knows why.  The meeting was basically president just roasting everyone for a long period of time.  The Area Presidency put a goal for our mission to achieve 100 baptisms in December which is gonna be hard considering we haven't topped 75 in the last six months.  But every stake is going to make a special push to get more people there and our branch is going to have a huge end of the Christmas party or something so we will see.
